By car

The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West interchange, where the A45 (Sauerland Line) crosses the B1/A40 (Ruhr Expressway). The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The “Dortmund Universität” S-Bahn station is located right on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and, in the opposite direction, to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached via bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information is available on the Rhein-Ruhr Transport Association’s website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

The H-Train

One of TU Dortmund’s landmarks is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this route in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, you can take the AirportExpress to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there take the S-Bahn to the university. Düsseldorf Airport, located about 60 kilometers away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Stays abroad for employees

There are various opportunities for staff in the Department of Social Sciences to gain experience abroad.

A teaching stay via Erasmus+ at one of the department's partner universities is organized by the department's Erasmus Departmental Coordinator. You can find more information here.

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility

A stay abroad at one of our partner universities is open to all employees of our department.

The Department of Social Sciences currently has about 20 Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreements. Most of these agreements with our partner universities also include the possibility for staff mobility. An overview of the partner universities can be found here.

Staff mobility can range between 2 days and six weeks and must include at least 8 teaching hours per week. Longer stays result in a correspondingly higher requirements for the amount of teaching. The length of the stay is typically agreed upon individually with the partner university. If you are interested in a stay abroad through Erasmus+, please contact the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator.
